At least 44 documented Internally Displaced Families (IDFs) from Marawi City in the Municipality of Makilala received additional food items from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) 12, in a distribution conducted on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Municipal Hall Lobby.
Mayor Rudy S. Caoagdan, DPA led the distribution of the food items facilitated by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).
According to Makilala Social Welfare Officer Lina Canedo, the DSWD regional office released at least 44 boxes of mixed food items, including 44 packs of rice with 5 kilos each for theIPFs in Makilala
The food items were supposedly intended to dispose before the Ramadan period but since the DSWD regional office lacked manpower due to some of their personnel were commissioned to Marawi City for relief operations, the said food items were only released Thursday.
However, Canedo said that even the release was done late, it was still much of help to the Internally Displaced Families to sustain their daily needs.
Canedo said that it was the sixth time that they distributed grocery items to the evacuees since they arrived in Makilala in June, 2017.
Canedo added that they stopped documenting IDPs in Makilala since last week after the regional office of the DSWD advised them to maintain theircurrentlisting of IDPs in Makilala to avoid duplication of distribution of the relief goods to the same evacuees.jpb///
