Mayor Caoagdan bares plans for MIST’s future

Mayor Rudy Caoagdan made the statement during his State of Municipality Address (SOMA) yesterday March 21, 2016 at the Municipal Gym of Makilala.


Mayor Caoagdan reported his accomplishments and bared his future plans for Makilala highlighting the importance of the establishment of the Makilala Institute of Science and Technology that would ignite the spark of empowerment for the future generation to come.


With the approval of the Sanguniang Bayan of Ordinance No 275 – 2014, MIST on its second year of operation was created and now classified in the category of Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), duly approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to offer program offerings on Bachelor  of Science in Entrepreneurship;  Bachelor of Science in Agriculture; Bachelor of Public Administration; Diploma in Agricultural Technology leading to Bachelor of Agricultural Technology;   Associate in Midwifery and Associate in Computer Technology with a total of 1,163 currently enrolled.


Furthermore MIST is recently authorized by the Department of Education to be a service provider for the K+12 program with Permit No. SHS – R12 – 010 – s – 2015 to offer Four (4) Academic Tracks of the Senior High school program.


Mayor Caoagdan also revealed to construct a permanent campus for MIST,  for this he got a standing ovation with elated expectations particularly  from the 1,163 strong students currently enrolled.

Mayor Caoagdan said that MIST will have its first batch of graduates this coming April 2016 who will march receiving their graduate program on Diploma in Agriculture Technology. Expectedly by next year the first graduates of Associate in Midwifery  and Associate in Computer Technology will hopefully received their diplomas.

Mayor Caoagdan further stated the implementation of the free basic education with fund augmentation from the Local Government Unit for the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE)of the elementary and high school schools of Makilala will continue.

Mayor Caoagdan’s thrusts on education is only one amongst the many accomplishment of the Mayor which he highlighted during his SOMA. /ocdeseo /jzamora
